Joomfish and sh404SEF information

For proper operation of sh404SEF and Joomfish

Starting with version 1.3 RC, it is not needed anymore to use the special language switch module shJoomfish. This module is no longer installed with sh404SEF. you can and should use Joomfish regular language selection module. For older versions, it is mandatory to use shJoomfish, but we urge you to upgrade to a more recent versions.

IMPORTANT : using version 1.8.x of Joomfish

Joomfish has changed the way it uses database fields. From version 1.8, it has now a "short code" for each language, and sh404SEF, to maintain backward compatibility with version 1.7 of Joomfish, will use this field. So you MUST check Joomfish config as follow :

- go to Joomfish menu, Languages sub-menu

- Look at the "Short code" column, and make sure there is a value for each language you will use. What you enter here will be used in sh404SEF. For instance, you should put there en for English, es for Spanish, etc

Using Alias title with Joomfish

A special note for Joomfish users : it is usually more handy to use content elements Alias in URL, instead of Title. However, Aliases are not translated by Joomfish, as per default settings. To have aliases translated as well :

  • Locate and open administrator/components/com_joomfish/contentelements/content.xml
  • Insert the following line

<field type="text" name="title_alias" translate="1">Title Alias</field>

  •  right after the one that looks like

<field type="titletext" name="title" translate="1">Title</field>
