Hi all,
Long time since I posted anything here. I feel now is a good time to give some information about the state of this project. Basically, there has been a period over this summer when I had much less time available to work on sh404sef. At the same time, my energy to get the joomla 1.5.x version to stable was drained by having to spend way too much time debugging other extensions. Many Joomla 1.5.x native extensions have been largely rewritten, some are even completely new, and many bugs only appear when SEF url are activated. And even only when sh404sef is activated, as Joomla own SEF provides SEF urls mostly for regular content, but only for a few 3rd-party extensions. Situation is a bit better now, and I have started again putting out new versions for test for the last few weeks. As a reminder, you'll find those "latest build" versions at download.siliana.com. The "official" version is still and always available from Joomlacode.org , but these test versions are always worth a try, as they usually include the latests bug fixes. I have used however those weeks with less involvement in sh404sef programming to think about a couple of new features. So, despite there is no real roadmap, here is what the immediate future could be : - Joomfish compatibility : current version of JF for 1.5.x looks pretty good and nearly stable, and I have already started work on that last week. I expect that some decent sh404sef multi-lingual version should be available in the next week or 10 days - get a stable version of sh404sef for Joomla 1.5.x : the latest test versions have ironed out the biggest issues. I already use sh404sef on a few 1.5.x sites myself, and I know that many people do the same on production sites, but there are still many small bugs to work out - new features : in parallel with the above, I hope to build in a couple of additions to improve SEO and usability of your sites. Time permitting, I do plan to put this work for both the 1.0.x and 1.5.x versions. Though sh404sef now experience roughly twice as many 1.5.x downloads as for the 1.0.x, the (estimated) number of 1.0.X running sites is still hugely bigger and I think it deserves attention. Another big subject coming up : as the project grows bigger, there certainly is a need to improve the support process. As this has been discussed privately with a few people recently, a couple of threads have been opened on the forum to collect ideas, thoughts and proposals. I would very much like anyone concerned by the matter to stop by and drop us a line about what they think could be an improvement over the current situation.
