Hello all ! You can't start a new website in 2007 without including a blog, so here it goes. Not that I have really anything special to say! But let's take this opportunity to give you some background information on what's this all about : for the last year or so, I have developed a few modules and components for Joomla, mostly expanding existing ones, to make them fit a specific need I was having. Like the good boy I am, I made them available to others, and a number of people pleased me by downloading them. Some might even be using them, for which I thank them. I am not geared toward becoming a Joomla component professionnal developer for I lack the resource to properly support my potential customers (and kinda too old, you see). Still, I have seen lately interest for my extensions grow (mostly with the release of a beefed up version of sh404SEF), so I thought I would put online some general information about the extensions, as well as about URL rewriting. The latter topic actually generates a lot of help requests, and many times turns into a "head-breaker" (litteral translation of French "casse-tête" - you see what I mean). So it might be useful to centralize information on this subject. Namely, I'd like to build up a database of URL rewriting configuration information for the main French (or otherwise) hosting companies. Surely that would be useful to many people. On top of information about the extensions themselves, I have setup a demo shop, using Virtuemart 1.0.10, so you can see for yourself how sh404SEF handles these URL. Likewise, the main menu just above this text uses shHMenu, shCustomTags is activated (only active in the demo shop for now), and the site is bilingual all throughout. On the homepage, you'll also see a small slideshow made with guess it, ...shSmoothSlideshow As said before, I did not put much effort in the site design, for I lacked time and probably energy as well to do so. I have not integrated any forum, as that may use too much hosting capacity for me, and so I will use Joomlacode.org forums instead until further notice (links to be found in main menu for each extenions) See you soon I hope, drop me a comment if you like. Yannick Gaultier (shumisha)
